KINGSMOOR ANGLERS LTD
From the Director.
Dear Member,
At the end of another season, we look back and again we are reviewing the struggles that we have experienced. Whilst the worst of Covid seemed over, we have this last year been affected by the economic problems besetting everybody. Consequently, our membership has been reduced a little and for the first time in 5 years we do not need to have an active waiting list.
Even though it has been another tough year, we have achieved some good things. In December 2022, we continued with our restocking programme and 5 more carp at 12 lbs+ were added to Moor Lane and 12 more Carp were added to the stock in Berry Hill. This has been the third phase of the programme and we are now confident of seeing some of the early fish getting back into the 20’s and some of the older fish getting into the 30’s this coming season.
The last fish of the year for 2022 at Moor Lane came out at a good 27 lbs
During the year, the club has also been investing in its aeration equipment as another step towards further protection from the hot summers forecasted to come. We are also continuing to monitor oxygen quality and water levels during winter when flooding occurs and are making more plans to try and cope with flood situations.
Other good news is that (in conjunction with the EA), we are finally starting to get some improvements made to our water flow at Berry Hill and the flow now is much improved. There is still further work to be done and this is planned for 2023.
With regards to fees for the 2023 permits, we are pleased to announce that we will not be making any changes and definitely no increases. With the economic circumstances being what they are, we hope this will help you a little to continue your membership of the club.
We will be scheduling a number of working parties this year and you will find more detail about these further on in this newsletter. We need as much help as possible at these working parties and I ask you all to attend at least one if you possibly can.
Much of the work is often carried out by officers, bailiffs and a few volunteers, but we really do need all the help you can provide to get the waters in good shape for the start of the new season.
My grateful thanks goes out to all those involved last year and for what you achieved.
There is much more information to follow in this newsletter, I hope that you all have a good read and catch up on the events of the club
I and all the Kingsmoor Council would also like to share our grateful thanks to you; our members for your valued support. We hope you will continue with this support by renewing your membership for 2023, attending the scheduled working parties and attending the AGM.
We hope for an improved season this year and wish you all great fishing for 2023.
Special Close Season tickets
Berry Hill and Moor Lane are our prime Carp waters and are much in demand. For this reason we are going to continue with the current format of paying a premium for access to these two waters during the close season. This will continue as present with a limited number of places available (30) for which we currently charge a premium fee of £40.
These Close Season tickets will cover the period 1st April to 31st May 2023. They will also be subject to the applicant having been a member of the club for one year (previous year).
Ashford is an ‘all year’ round water for all members and comes as part of the standard annual permit. (New members get this opportunity to fish this water through the close season at the end of your first year – for your first year, your ticket commences on 1st June)
Payments by Bank Transfer
Please note that if you elect to use this method of payment for your membership dues, no actions will be taken on your membership until we see your fees come through on our bank statements. Bank Transfers should be made to :-
Lloyds Bank, Sort code 30-97-73, Account 44011968.
Please add your name and ‘Membership’ tag as a reference i.e. (Fred Bloggs Membership)
Otters and Mink
We continue to keep a watch on this situation and request the help of members. Reports are still being made about the increase of Otters that are wreaking havoc on fishing lakes - now in all the areas of Maidenhead and Staines. If any Angler should spot any sign at all of Otters or Mink being on OR close to our waters please contact a Bailiff or a member of the committee and report this immediately.
Annual General Meeting
This is planned for April 27rd at Wraysbury Village Hall, starting at 7:30.
Working Parties
PLEASE NOTE – CLOSE SEASON PERMIT HOLDERS, THE LAKES WILL BE CLOSED ON THE DAYS WORKING PARTIES ARE SCHEDULED.
Members will be invited to attend working parties as they are scheduled.
Berry Hill 12th March
Berry Hill 26th March
Moor Lane 2nd April
Ashford 23rd April
Ashford 14th May
Moor Lane 21st May
All working parties begin at 8:30 am and finish about mid-day.
Thanks very much to all the volunteers who turned up at last year’s working parties particularly those who attended more than one.
Please make the effort to do your designated working party this year – if you do not, your ticket will not be sent out – better still come along and help at an extra one ! Many hands make light work ?
Please bring any tools that would be useful, trimmers, hammers etc
Please Remember : If you do not attend your designated working party you will not be eligible for a Close Season permit in the following year. If you do not attend your designated working party and do not pay the exception fee you will not receive a permit for the 2024 / 2025 season unless this back-payment is made.
Further Ad-hoc working parties may be called later in the season!
Litter
Better this year but the general problem still persists, especially at Moor Lane. In previous years we have terminated memberships for leaving litter at our venues.
There is really no need for this behaviour and we will continue to take strict action against anyone caught!
If you bring anything with you , please take it home again and leave our waters as somewhere pleasant to fish.
DO NOT throw your litter over the railway fence or Moor fence and think that is the problem dealt with!!!
24 Hour rule
We have had a number of incidents of members fishing our venues for longer than 24 hours without leaving, contrary to the club’s ruling. Please do not do this in future as any further contravention of this rule will result in your membership being terminated.
This rule also applies to your equipment being removed from the lake, there have been incidents reported where anglers have left the lake leaving their equipment occupying a swim.
We have also had instances of rods being left unattended, we refer you to your rule book, no more than 5 yards from your rods is permitted.
We have had one instance reported where rods were left out and the owner went shopping??
Data Protection
Our Data Protection policy was introduced back in 2018 and it is published on our website on the membership page. You can also apply for a copy of this policy which must be made in writing to the membership secretary. By signing and submitting membership application forms, you are agreeing to your data being used for ‘membership’ purposes. Your data will be kept for no longer than 2 years from each submission.
Web Site
Since the transfer of our website to a YELL subsidery called WIX, our website has now settled and seems, for the most part, to be running smoothly. For a while last December and January the site has been down whilst this transfer was completed but I am pleased to say that it is now back up and running and can be located at the URL – kingsmooranglers.co.uk
The web site continues be useful in providing forms for new members when we are able to take them on. It is not a professional site, but it seems it is proving its worth in having something rather than nothing.
It is also providing a popular method for potential new anglers to register on the Clubs waiting list once we have reached our 'full' status.
Application forms can be downloaded from the site at appropriate times.
We have a fish report page which unfortunately is very sparse! No one is sending in pictures. We know the fish are being caught so please don’t be shy in 2023, please send in some pics that we can show on the site.
If you have not visited the site yet it can be found at:- www.kingsmooranglers.co.uk
You will also see on the site that we are now providing a separate email address so you can send photos in as attachments, This is kingsmooranglers@yahoo.co.uk
Could we ask that this is just used for photos, other messages please use the “contact us” page on the website.
Our Facebook page also continues to operate and each year this is edited to include only our current members, this allows members to keep in regular contact about issues etc and report any catches.
